Free accompanying-driver course

Is it time to start practising driving? It's completely normal to have lots of questions beforehand – whether you're going to be the accompanying driver or the one learning to drive. At Feste, we believe that good collaboration between the home and the driving school gives the best foundation for the training. Sign up for one of our free accompanying-driver courses, and you'll be confident and well prepared when you take the passenger seat.

Confident in the passenger seat

As an accompanying driver, you play one of the most important roles in the training. On the free accompanying-driver course, we prepare you for exactly that: how to support, guide and create a safe framework for the practice driving. You leave the course with a clear plan – and the calm that helps both you and the student enjoy the road.

Why is practising driving so important?

Practising driving can be an exercise in patience and stress management, and some are tempted to skip it and just take lessons. We don't recommend that.

Think of it like learning to play the piano: if you only play during lessons with the teacher and never practise at home, it takes a long time – and many lessons – to get good. Practising driving gives the student experience in safe surroundings, with an accompanying driver who can strengthen their knowledge along the way. Traffic is never static, and the student learns a lot from meeting different situations and getting tips and guidance on the spot.

A good mix of practice driving and lessons gives a safer, more effective and more affordable path to becoming a responsible driver.

What you'll get on the course

On the accompanying-driver course, we prepare you for your role in the passenger seat. You'll learn how to best support the student, how to plan good and effective practice driving, what rules apply to practice driving, and how to avoid the most common pitfalls. The goal is for you to feel confident and useful from the very first drive.

Who can be an accompanying driver?

To be an accompanying driver for practice driving in category B, you must:

  • be at least 25 years old
  • have held a valid licence in the category continuously for at least 5 years

In addition, the car must be clearly marked with a red L-sign at the back, and the student must have completed the basic traffic course (or first aid and night-driving for those over 25). The student can start practice driving from the age of 16.
